Relighting practice I did during CGMA Art of Lighting for Games week 1-2. Completed in ~10hrs from scratch. Based on UE4 Elemental Demo from UE sample projects.
Given the lava, torches, castle and other stuff, I chose fantasy theme. I used green moonlight for exterior lighting to support spookiness of the place.
I started interior environment from the lava - it already provided one color in the scene, so I lit the cave and then added cool light around the throne, coming from above in a contrast to warm colors of lava.
Since there already was orange color from the lava in the scene, I didn't want to make torches with the similar color, so I went for the green spooky-ghosty color for the torches, complementing the color of the moonlight.
As for the side corridor, I wanted to separate it from the main hall, so I used more natural warm color, but not too red to keep the difference with the lava zone. This place supposes to have bonus-weapon and different lighting is used to prompt player that something interesting is there.
